Common Web Design Mistakes
Quality website navigation is extremely important if you want visitors to keep coming back to your website. If visitors are not able to find what they are looking for or cannot easily surf through the pages on your website, they aren’t likely to return. Let’s take a look at some of the more common web design mistakes.
- Too many social media icons
While it’s wonderful to be connected on social media and have the ability to do so from your webpage, having an icon for every single social media site known to man will only overwhelm your visitors. - Placing advertisement pages before web content
No one wants to watch an advertisement video or click past a pop-up ad before they are able to get to the article they want to read. This is probably the quickest way to lose visitors to your website. - Large scale use of Flash animations
While Flash animations can enhance small portions of your website, large scale use of Flash animations will cause your website to load slowly and be difficult to navigate. In addition, search engine robots cannot read Flash. - Disabling the web browser’s “back” button
Even if your website has its own “back” navigation, most people will prefer to use their web browser’s “back” button. If your design disables this feature, people aren’t likely to return. - Not including contact details
Without any contact details, most people will assume that you are a scam. If your contact information is difficult to find, people might think that you have something to hide. Prominently displayed contact details help you gain the trust of your visitors.
